BATTLE FOR THE NET: HELP PROTECT HABITICA
What would you do if you couldn't access your favorite websites, including Habitica, without paying an exorbitant amount to your internet service provider? In the United States, where Habitica is based, that is now a very real danger.
The USA's Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is about to vote on its plan to kill net neutrality, which will let internet service providers charge extra fees, throttle internet speeds, and block access to websites like this one. This could kill a small company like Habitica.
Congress can stop them, but only if US citizens flood them with calls right now, asking them to defend net neutrality by stopping the FCC's vote BEFORE December 14th. Help keep Habitica free to access for everybody!

There’s an exciting new update to our Android app!
We’ve smashed some pesky bugs, including the issue with task reordering! You can now view and assign attribute points (or choose auto-allocation)! We’ve added Equipment to the Market, plus the ability to change your login name and email, reset or delete your account, make changes to your profile, and access Fix Character Values. You can also request a password reset from the login screen! We hope this makes your Habitica experience even better. Be sure to download the update now for a better Habitica experience!

Want to add multiple tasks at a time? Now you can type more than one task in the quick-add sections above the tasks and add them all at once! Just separate them by Shift-Enter, and then when you click Enter, they'll all be added at the same time.
Plus, now when hovering over a task, three dots appear in the corner. Click them for a quick-dropdown menu that includes a faster way to delete tasks and the ability to instantly push a task to the top or bottom of the list!
Finally, the website now has our popular task counters from mobile, which tell you how many actionable Dailies + To-Dos you're currently viewing! Want to see how many Scheduled To-Dos are on your plate, or how many "Morning" Dailies you have in that filter? The purple number at the top of the column will tell you!

TASK PAGE UPDATES AND FINAL MASTERCLASSER QUEST LINE
Requested Updates to Task Page[]
We're happy to announce that we've pushed some of the most-requested updates from our feedback form: the return of quick-add tasks above each column, a more compact header and task page footer, and the ability to refresh the page using the new sync button in the upper-right! Thank you very much to everyone who left us thoughtful comments. We're still working on implementing some of the advanced options like push to top/bottom, the ability to batch-add tasks, and manual task attribute allocation, but you'll be seeing them soon.
We know that this has been a disruptive experience for many of you, and we're very sorry about that. This was a much tougher rollout than we anticipated, and we've been so grateful for your patience, your thoughtful feedback, and your supportive messages. Our small team has been working nights and weekends since July to bring you the upgrade and fix the bugs that resulted, but we only have two full-time web developers and a small handful of part-timers, so things don't always move as quickly as we'd like. It's been beyond exhausting, but we are determined to get everything running smoothly again.
The good news is that a large part of this redesign was rewriting the entirety of the front-end code from scratch, so we've managed to completely get rid of the outdated, cobbled-together code that was preventing us from adding new features or quickly fixing bugs. Being trapped between the old and new code was particularly rough for us, because it meant that all our development was frozen and we were cut off from our awesome open-source contributors. Now that we've launched, we're able to actually move forward without being paralyzed by the constraints of the old site. Our new design has also enabled us to build a foundation for features that people have been requesting from the beginning, like batch-buying items, new Group Plan upgrades, quest enhancements, and more. This has been a tough time of transition, but we can't wait to show you everything that we have planned.
Thank you again for sticking with us -- and if you have feedback about the redesign, please let us know via our feedback form! We've been reading every single comment that you send in and incorporating your requests into our roadmap going forward. We're incredibly lucky to have such passionate users -- you guys mean the world to us. Look out for more updates soon!

Bug Fixes Keep Coming![]
Hello Habiticans! <3 We’ve released another batch of bug fixes! Thank you all again for your reports:
- We've fixed the issue preventing checklists from being collapsible!
- We fixed the bug where some users who reached 0 health would get their health bar stuck there without refiling.
- You can now upgrade Guilds into Group Plans using Stripe!
- We fixed issues with the Bailey announcement refusing to scroll if it coincided with multiple pop-ups.
- We fixed some bugs preventing users from subscribing with Amazon.
- We've prevented you from opening someone's profile if their user avatar wasn't fully loaded (resulting in the wrong profile being displayed).
- All Quick Inventory bars now remember whether or not you minimized them, and remain in that state even when you navigate away or refresh.
- We prevented the filter menu from accidentally closing if you're in edit mode.
- Pop-ups no longer interrupt the Record Yesterday's Activity modal.
- The loading bar is back when you take an action on the site!
- Now when you buy anything in one of the shops, the confirmation popup doesn't return for the rest of your session.
- The Group Billing tab has returned to Group Plans!
- Users with many To-dos are able to check off the final To-do in their list again.
- We fixed the bugs where the Enchanted Armoire sometimes wouldn't correctly report what you had received.
- The Enchanted Armoire now tells you how much experience you received.
- If you already own the Bat-tle Rogue set, Spooky Sparkles are now the featured item in the Seasonal Shop.
- Opaque potions and other transformation item cures are now available in the Rewards column again!
- The Enchanted Armoire and Health Potions are now purchased with a single click, not needing a popup.
- Brutal Smash and other task-targeting skills can no longer accidentally check off tasks.
- Now if you make your screen very small, it does not prevent you from accessing all the navigation items.
- We fixed the issue with the limited identifier being cut off on the Rewards column when an item was located in the top row.
- We've fixed the bug preventing the number of notifications from displaying!
- Transformation items now take effect immediately, without having to refresh the page.
- You can now use emoji and other Markdown in Challenge titles again.
Equipment items that don't belong to any specific class can now be found in the Market under Equipment > Class > None.
Refresh the page to see these fixes! If you're still encountering these issues after a refresh, head to the Report a Bug Guild and we will investigate. Thanks for being part of Habitica!
Redesign Feedback Form Available[]
Now that the new Habitica redesign has been out for a week and we've had some time to fix some of the bugs, we wanted to open up a channel for your feedback. Please note that some pending features (like the ability to add tasks above each column, the sync button, push to top/bottom, and the ability to batch-add tasks) are still being built, and our team is still working hard to fix bugs. To see if your concerns are already being addressed, be sure to check out the Habitica Redesign FAQ and the Known Bugs List!
Although originally we planned to collect feedback via Trello, we heard some concerns from the community that this would be difficult because it would require people to sign up for additional accounts. For that reason, we've decided to collect feedback via a Google form. We hope that this makes it easier to tell us what you think! We're eager to get your input so that we can work to make Habitica the best that it can be.
We are a very small team, and for many of us, Habitica is a labor of love. Thank you all very much for your patience and for your support during this time of transition -- it means the world to us.

SPOOKY SPARKLES, MOBILE UPDATES, AND BUG FIXES
Spooky Sparkles and Seasonal Shop[]
There's a new Gold-purchasable item in the Seasonal Shop: Spooky Sparkles! Buy some and then cast it on your friends. I wonder what it will do?
If you have Spooky Sparkles cast on you, you will receive the "Alarming Friends" badge! Don't worry, any mysterious effects will wear off the next day.... or you can cancel them early by buying an Opaque Potion!
While you're at it, be sure to check out all the other items in the Seasonal Shop! There are lots of equipment items from the previous Fall Festivals. The Seasonal Shop will only be open until October 31st, so stock up now.

Updates to iOS and Android Apps![]
There are exciting new updates to our Android and iOS apps! In both, we've updated the design of the Shops and your Rewards column. Plus, now you can pin items you want from Shops to your Rewards column! We hope this makes upgrading your avatar and earning Rewards from your tasks even more motivating.
Android users can also now reset their accounts via the app!
In the iOS app, we've also added improved VoiceOver support for better accessibility. We welcome your feedback on this feature via the in-app "Send Feedback" option.

New Post-Update Bug Fixes![]
Hello Habiticans! <3 We’ve released a big batch of bug fixes! Many thanks for your patience, and for taking the time to report these bugs. Some changes:
- Due to concerns about accessibility and usability of the Tasks page, we’ve removed the scrollbars on the different Tasks columns.
- Due to concerns about the skills bar being too large, we have released a new, more compact design! It should also now stay minimized once you’ve minimized it before, so that it won’t block your tasks all the time.
- Now you no longer need to click “Apply Filters” – they take automatic effect when you check them and uncheck them! The dropdown also closes when you move your mouse away, to further reduce the clicking required.
- Clicking “Scheduled” now correctly sorts your To-Dos by date
- Creating a task while a filter is selected now defaults to being tagged with that filter!
- Your Stables are now correctly configured so that the rows of pets and mounts don’t blend together on smaller screens!
- You can now click directly on a Mount to equip it!
- We’ve fixed a few bugs that were preventing some people from subscribing or buying gems, but some are remaining. Please be sure to report these in Report a Bug (linked below) and we will help you out ASAP!
- You should now be able to remove tasks when you leave a Challenge!
- You can edit Challenge Tags again!
- We’ve fixed the confusing placement of the “Send” buttons in chat
- We’ve fixed some style issues that were causing the Quests to occasionally look strange
- When you edit a Guild, it will default to you as the leader
- The "Members" label is now called the "Member list" to help clarify that you can click it to see all the members of a Party, Guild, or Challenge!
- If you have a pending quest, you can now see which members have accepted before you start your quest.
- When you complete a quest, the final reward popups are appearing again!
- You can now edit Parties normally!
- You can now correctly allocate your Stat points without needing to refresh the page!
- If you opted out of choosing a class, it will no longer give you an unnecessary warning about costing 3 Gems.
- You can no longer accidentally block yourself from your profile.
- Mystic Hourglasses now only show in the header if you have more than one. (Thanks for subscribing!)
- Markdown works in Challenge titles again!
- You can now Clone Challenges again!
- The Bailey news loads on the mobile apps again!
- The red User ID notifications in the corner should be gone!
- Chat performance should be better. (We’re still investigating to make it even better, so please let us know in the Report a Bug Guild if chat lag is still happening to you!)
Refresh the page to enjoy these fixes! HABITICA'S WEBSITE LEVELS UP!
Welcome to the new Habitica! We're so excited to share it with you at last. This project, which has been a labor of love since last December, is the single biggest update that Habitica has ever released (with over 150 pages of designs, an entire rewrite of all of our front-end code, countless rounds of testing and iteration, and many, many meetings). Just refresh your page to load the new website!
You can find a full list of changes here, as well as explanations for why we made each, but here are a few quick tips to help you get oriented:
- There's a ton of new art around the site! Peek at the NPCs and Guild chats to admire some of the changes.
- Click directly on your tasks to bring up the edit modal!
- The navigation bar contains several changes to be more intuitive for new users, so we recommend taking some time to open the drop-down menus and familiarize yourself with the new locations. Notably, the User menu has moved to an icon in the upper-right corner.
- You can now pin any purchasable item in the game to your Rewards. You can pin Backgrounds, too! Just hover over the shop icon and click the pin. When you head back to the tasks page, you'll see it in your Rewards column!
- There are lots of new filtering options, especially for Guilds and Challenges!
- There are visual upgrades for every aspect of the site, from the front page to the Seasonal Shop. We hope that you like them!
- Some of these upgrades have made their way to our iOS and Android apps! Be sure to download the latest updates for the best performance.
Have general questions about how the new site works? Come ask in the Habitica Help Guild, and we'll be glad to assist! Likewise, if you encounter a persistent bug that isn't fixed by refreshing your page, you can report it in the Report a Bug Guild and we will investigate as soon as possible.
If you have thoughts about the new design, we look forward to hearing them. On October 12th we will be opening a Trello card for public comments on the redesign. This delay will give us time to focus our attention on answering general questions and fixing any bugs that might arise. For this reason, we ask that you hold back on sharing your feedback about the new designs until that Trello card is live and linked in a Bailey announcement. Thanks for understanding!

FALL HATCHING POTIONS AND HABITICA SITE UPGRADE
Spooky and Ghost Hatching Potions![]
There's a new pet breed in town! Between now and October 31st, you can buy Spooky Hatching Potions and Ghost Hatching Potion from the Market and use them to hatch any standard pet egg. (Magic Hatching Potions do not work on Quest Pet eggs.) Magic Potion Pets aren't picky, so they'll happily eat any kind of food that you feed them!
After they're gone, it will be at least a year before the Ghost and Spooky Hatching Potions are available again, so be sure to get them now!

Habitica Upgrade: September 28th[]
As many of you know, Habitica is getting a major design upgrade. We’re excited to announce that we will be launching it this week on Thursday, September 28th. We can’t wait!
As a reminder, this design upgrade was created based on tons of feedback collected from Habiticans over time, and includes:
- An emphasis on making the world of Habitica feel more immersive, including new NPC banners that show cool
scenes, avatars that are visible in chat, and a login page highlighting the night-time Habitica countryside
- Fun new features such as categories for Guilds and Challenges, more filtering options, and the ability to customize your Reward column by pinning any purchasable item in the game.
- A cleaner look that is more intuitive to learn, and more consistent with our mobile apps
- A special veteran pet awarded to all users!
If you’d like a sneak peek of the many tweaks that we have in store, you can find a comprehensive list here that explains what changed and why we changed it.
We know that some of these changes may be tough to get used to at first, so on October 12th we will be opening a Trello card for public comments on the redesign. This will give us time to answer questions as people are adjusting, as well as fix any bugs that might arise. Also, for users who are currently using a third-party style extension, keep in mind that these extensions may not function after the redesign, depending on whether the creator of the style extension has updated it. We’re happy to help style extension creators in the Aspiring Comrades Guild.
Keep in mind that the redesign launch is likely to happen later in the day on Thursday (Pacific time), so keep an eye out for the Bailey announcement telling you to refresh the page. Thanks so much for your patience -- we can’t wait to unveil the new site for everyone!

We've released a new update to our iOS app! In this update, we've fixed two pesky bugs! First, we've added a fix for the bug that caused users to be logged out of the app frequently. We've also fixed the issue where blank spaces appeared in the spots for your non-Due Dailies.

Update on Site Redesign[]
As some of you may recall, the Habitica staff has been working on a massive site upgrade for quite some time. Originally, we were hoping to launch by the end of August, but as we approached that deadline, the team unanimously determined that we could provide a better user experience if we took more time to really work on testing and bug-fixing so that when we do launch the new site, it's the best that it can be. We know that Habiticans rely on us every day, and we take that responsibility very seriously. We're so proud of what we've accomplished so far -- over 150 pages of new designs, a complete rewrite of the website's frontend code, and tons of upgrades and improvements -- and it's really important to us that when we launch it, we launch it right.
Luckily, you don't need to wait until the release for a sneak peek of what's to come! We've debuted the new login page on our iOS and Android apps. Keep an eye out for future updates as well.

In response to your feedback, we've reduced the number of items needed to complete several collection quests. "Find the Lair of the Wyrm", "Egg Hunt", "Message in a Bottle", "A Stern Talking-To", and "The Moonstone Chain" have all had their requirements reduced, making it more feasible for small parties to complete them in a timely fashion. If you've felt daunted by these Quests in the past, head to the Quest Shop and give them another try!
If you've already tackled these quests, your extra efforts were not in vain! We've proportionally increased the number of achievements that you received from them.

Now iOS users can view, join, and leave Challenges via the Habitica app! Easily add user-created tasks to your list, then compete against other Habiticans to win gems and achievements. We've also smashed some bugs including the issue where Dailies would not always be saved on iOS 8 and 9 and a fix for the crashes some users were experiencing when using To-Dos and checklists.

GROUP PLAN MANAGERS, SWEARWORD BLOCKING, AND SPAM PREVENTION
Group Plan Managers[]
Want other people in your Group Plan to help you assign and approve tasks? Now the Group Plan Leader can assign Group Managers as well! Managers have the ability to assign and approve all tasks, although only leaders can adjust the Group info and payment options.
To add Managers to your Group Plan, just edit the Group Plan by clicking on the edit button, and select the people that you want to be Managers from the drop-down menu. We hope that this helps you be more efficient and productive!
Don't forget, there are lots of benefits to being in a Group Plan! In addition to all the extra productivity tools, all members of a Group Plan get free subscriptions, and their very own Jackalope mounts! Be sure to check them out if you haven't already.

Chat Improvements: Swearword Blocker and Spam Prevention[]
We're excited to announce that we've released two new tools that will help keep Habitica's Tavern Chat pleasant to use as our community grows.
First is a swearword blocker that will automatically prevent people from posting certain words that are not allowed in the Tavern Chat, which will help keep conversations suitable for Habiticans of all ages and backgrounds. (Please note that the swearword blocker may not catch every instance of disallowed words, so we still encourage users to flag inappropriate messages so that they can be removed by the moderator team!) Next, there's a new tool for spam prevention that keeps users from posting too many messages too quickly in the Tavern Chat. This prevents a single person from dominating the chat and pushing away older messages before others have a chance to read them.
We're very excited to have these new features! We hope that you enjoy the chat improvements that will result.

Change to Party Sizes[]
Due to some technical constraints that were causing performance issues for large Habitica parties, we've limited the number of members in a single party to 30 people. If you already have more than thirty people in your party, don't worry--you won't be forced to eject anyone! This rule only applies going forward.
This change will help prevent a lot of the bugs and glitches that affected very large parties, and will improve Habitica's site performance overall. Thanks for understanding! if you have any questions, we'll be happy to answer them in the Habitica Help Guild.

We've released a new iOS update which lets you subscribe through the app!
Subscribers help us keep the app running and updating, so as a thank-you, they get exclusive monthly items, the ability to buy gems with gold, and more. If you're already a subscriber, you can now use the app to open your monthly gift and buy gems with gold!
Other improvements include a redesign of the task list and new icons for the header! Habits also now will show when they were last completed. We've also smashed some bugs. Be sure to download the update now for a better Habitica experience!

Group Plan Improvements: Subscription Benefits and Exclusive Jackalope Mount for All Group Plan Members![]
We're thrilled to announce that we've added some new features to the group plans.
Based on your feedback, all members of a group plan now automatically get:
- Full subscription benefits, including the exclusive monthly items and the ability to buy gems with gold
- A brand-new exclusive Jackalope Mount
- The classic task-sharing features from the original version of group plans, including the ability to assign tasks to specific group members and the ability to approve whether or not tasks were actually completed.
- A group chat cap of 400 messages instead of the usual 200 messages.

We've released a new Android update that contains Challenges!
Now you can browse, join, and view Challenges on the app! Easily add user-created tasks to your list, then compete against other Habiticans to win gems and achievements.
Plus, we've made some design improvements! Habit buttons now have the +/- on different sides to improve accessibility, and long pressing on the floating action button now creates a task that matches the task list you’re currently viewing. We've got some snazzy new icons, too! Be sure to download it now for a better Habitica experience.

Can you help Lady Glaciate and the Mammoth Riders vanquish their foes and recover their valuables? If so, you'll earn the exclusive Mammoth Rider Armor Set.
As time goes on, we'll be adding more gold-purchasable quests. The Stoïkalm Calamity is not a limited-edition quest line, so you have plenty of time to save up!

You can complete your wintry avatar look with Aurora, Dapper, Festive, Holly, Polar, Sugar, or Winter Star Skins. Due to the fact that these skins released later than the rest of the Seasonal Customization items, we've decided to make a special one-time exception to their end date, so they will be available until February 3rd, rather than the festival end date of January 31st!
